Shaman Arabians actually came into existence in 1970 with the purchase of the family’s first Arabian horse. We all fell in love with the beautiful horses of a friend of the children that they had meet in grade school. We were instantly hooked on their history, romance and charisma. That was the year that changed our lives. After that, every magazine we bought and every place we traveled was centered on the Arabians. I spent a good deal of time studying and developing a picture in my mind of what I thought the perfect horse should look like. The kids went along for the ride and enjoyed the horses in ways that only young people can, with pleasure in the ride and the foals that were being born at home. Today the ranch is very much a family affair as all the “kids” live on or near the ranch and the horses are a part of all of our family conversations, entertainment and work!! In the early 1990s we began to purchase horses that could make a difference in our breeding program. When Pryme was purchased we began to see the type of foals being born that we felt fit our picture of the Arabian horse. Pryme Thyme has been an extremely important part of Shaman Arabians as he has become the sire every breeder dreams of owning. We are all in love with this beautiful animal and it has been a humbling experience to just own him and be able to see and enjoy him every day for the last 20 years. Success in not instantly obtained for most of us and the family has had to work very hard and spend a good deal of money, more often than not the money was hard to come by, to have the program that we now have that has been fairly successful.
